The company undertook an ambitious growth plan
that resulted in creating cash flow issues and
ultimately caused the situation that the company
could not meet all the short term cash
commitments. The investors with management
undertook a process to restructure and return
the company to profitability. Key in this
initiative was finding a partner who could move
quickly to:
• Take out existing financial institution.
• Supply highly leveraged working capital (More
than available through a banking relationship)
to take out existing financial institution.
• Be flexible and able to adapt to changing
requirements during the course of the
relationship
In summary, a partner was needed who could
structure an arrangement that addressed current
challenges, highly leverage and still be able to
be flexible enough to address new requirements
as the relationship progressed and requirements
changed. A lot to ask for - obviously a bank was
not going to work.
After several false starts with other companies,
I was introduced to TCE and never looked back.
The negotiations were always focused on “keeping
things simple”. Everything was flexible to find
a solution that would work for all parties. TCE
moved very quickly though due diligence, legals
and buying out our bank. |
There were never any “committees” to get back to
for approvals. TCE management was always
available to address any changes in credit
requirements. During the relationship if there
were any new requirements to be addressed – with
TCE there was never any problems – only
solutions. During the relationship, the line
requirements doubled. The restructuring and
turnaround was very successful. TCE’s
professionalism, understanding of the business,
industry and clients were instrumental in this
successful restructuring and turn around.
